Our close relationship with international development charity EveryChild has seen us support projects helping vulnerable children in Moldova, and Romania since 2007. The charity’s aim is to remove children from institutional care and place them back with their own or foster families.
Since our partnership began we have donated more than GBP130,000 which has helped dozens of children to be placed back with their families in Moldova and to run a very successful community centre in Romania.
In 2011, our focus switched to EveryChild’s work in Tanzania, where 12 of our employees took part in a 23 mile Jurassic Coast Walk and later climbed Mount Snowdon with their families to raise funds which to enable EveryChild to complete an essential restructuring of a Mkombozi residential care home in Arusha and Moshi for up to 40 children who would otherwise be living on the streets.
Thanks to our sponsorship and donations from employees, the centre now boasts four dormitories, each providing space for 10 children to sleep and eat. In the first six months after reopening, 65 children benefited from using the transition centre by being reintegrated with their own families, or placed with foster families, or placed with other institutions better equipped to provide for their needs.
